Atlantic Wharf
Ratcliff, London, 1994-1998
An apartment block by the north bank of the Thames with the backdrop of canary wharf. Based on drawings by HLM Architects, we developed the design, working with Laing O’Rourke. We worked with Jacobsen the past president of Landscape Institute and gold medallist for landscape architecture. The job totaled £22 million and created 250 flats.
Whilst building foundations we came across 16th century dry docks, which were used to build ships to go to the New World. Across the site was a listed stairs and path to allow freemen of London access from the highway to the river.
